One Step Paint Color Mix

Color Mixing is great and easy with the One Step Paint®. With the many color choices, there are still ways to mix them together to make your own custom color to fit your need. For this mix, I used 1/4 American Dream plus 1/8 Graphite plus 5/8 Black. I was looking to create a deep navy blue.

Color Mix:
1/4 American Dream + 1/8 Graphite + 5/8 Black

Inspiration:
Gorgeous with the gold detail
Even as an accent color of an entryway
Love this wall color for a bathroom

Before & After's

Happy Friday! It is that time to share before and after projects from our wonderful customers! I hope you are inspired by the beautiful projects that our customers are sharing.

Side Table
Before:
After:
"This little side table had a cracked and scratched leather top and a few other bumps and bruises all over so we transformed it into this stunning black end table. We used Amy Howard at Home One Step Paint in Black then applied the Clear Wax to give it a nice sheen then just for fun and to add dimension, we mixed some Black Toscana Powder Paint (also by Amy Howard) with some Clear Wax to give it a deep, rich look on the top. We added new drawer knob and the little beauty sold on it's second day in the shop!"

Dining Room Table
Before:
After:
This table was painted with Linen One Step Paint and
finished with the Remis Grey Toscana on top.

Chest
Before:
After:
"We rescued it and restored it once again with Amy Howard at Home One Step Paint. This time, we used French Blue on the drawers, Bauhaus Buff on the body and finished it up with Clear Wax with a touch of Diamond Dust Mica Powder in it! We added some new drawer pulls and ta da!"

Sample using the new Stencil Embossing Creme

Happy Monday! I wanted to share with you one of our new products, Stencil Embossing Creme. For today, I experimented on a sample to show you what kind of project you can take on! I enjoyed creating samples for furniture ideas with our new furniture stencils and embossing creme. It gives it a beautiful raised and look of hand carving! So many fun workshops in the works! We are headed to Atlanta for Gift Market and hope to see you there this week!

Start with raw or finished wood.
Here I was deciding what to do on my piece of furniture,
so I thought I would use some scrap plywood to experiment on.
Paint a base coat on your piece using the One Step paint.
After painting on 2 coats, allow the piece to dry for about 15 minutes
I then laid my stencil down and used tape to secure it to the board
Tape is to hold the stencil in place
With our new stencil embossing creme, I used a plastic spatula to apply it
It's nice and thick...A little goes a long way
Holding the stencil in place, I applied the stencil embossing creme across the stencil
After the stencil creme dried about 30minutes, I thought I would hold some of the raised areas.
I added some of our Bole which has a red color to it.
Then I applied our Gilding Size over the Bole.
I also added some Size here and there for some additional Gold Leaf accents
I applied the Gold leaf and burnished it down with tissue.
Once it had been covered, I rubbed away the excess Gold leaf with a dry brush.
I just left a suggestion of the Gold leaf.
I loved the light blue green color and how the white embossing creme and leaf were looking. So I decided to  apply a coat of white liming wax to add a little sheen and white color to the top.
Liming Wax
Final Look
Here's a final look at my sample board. I experimented with several other new stencils and the creme and gilding techniques. I have lots of ideas now for next piece of furniture.

Let me know your thoughts and how you would use these same techniques.

New introductions for 2015

It's New Years Eve and I am thrilled to share with you today a few of our new introductions for 2015! This coming year, we have a new space, new workshops and even new finishes coming out for the Amy Howard at Home line of products.

New Studio

Inspiration:
While our move was exhausting, it has been a lot of fun creating inspiring spaces to let our students see all the ways to use the products to Craft a Beautiful Life™.
Our walls are vignettes and covered with all types of amazing finishes.

It's going to be exciting to introduce our new line of furniture stencils and stencil embossing cremes at Market in Atlanta in just a few days.
Here is an example of Toscana with a stencil and antiquing glaze.
Another great example of Toscana and antiquing
It's Greek to me is just one grouping of classical furniture stencils that we will have. If you can't draw, no worries here! Stencils are a great way to add art to your furniture! Also, add our embossing cremes and you have magical raised 2 dimensional surfaces! They mix with the One Step Paint® too!!!! It's so exciting!!
Look for all our new products at our boutique retailers and sign up for one of their hands-on workshops.
