Before and After Projects

I wanted to share a few projects that I felt really had great results with the One Step Paint and Antiquing process as well as the Lacquer!

On this mirror, the frame was first painted with the Black One Step Paint.
Once the black coat had dried, it was painted with the Luxe Grey One Step Paint.
After, it was gilded with the Silver Leaf
and antiqued with the Light Wax, Dark Wax, and Dust of the Ages.

This Kitchen Table  was refinished in Amy Howard Home Linen One-Step Paint
with Light Antique Wax and Dark Antique Wax

Michele from Stiltskin Studios shared this very detailed
before and after project that she took on.
She used the Amy Howard At Home Luxe Grey One Step Paint and
highlighted with the Dust of the Ages

This was a set of two bamboo chairs that desperately needed to be rescued!
Vintage Dreamzzz completely restored the chairs by spraying them with
LaGrange Lacquer and recovering the seats with new fabric

Featured Retailer: The Treasured Home

Our Featured Retailer this week is The Treasured Home owned by Barbara Bussey and located in Fair Oaks, California.
I love to hear about how our retailers got started and fortunately, I was able to hear about Barbara's start. She said, "I "got my feet wet", joining an antique collective in 2012 and quickly knew I was hooked!  Later that year, I opened The Treasured Home. Prior to the shop opening, I had been blogging for a couple of years. Since my blog is called the Treasured Home, it sounded like a great name for a shop. While blogging, I followed other bloggers and found out that furniture painting was the rage.  So, of course, I had to do it too!  Another addiction was born! I knew that I wanted to sell furniture paint and offer classes at the shop and love the depth of the Amy Howard at Home line.  I went back to Memphis and was so inspired by Amy. She is my mentor, even though she doesn't know it!  I admire her vision, her business acumen and warmth. She's a delightful person and she has created a wonderful paint line. I love the shop and am so happy to see how it's developed.  In January, the shop doubled in size and now I have more room for classes, which I offer four or five times a month."
"Amy told us that we should spend half of our time working on our business and half, working in our business.  It's great advice.  This Tuesday, my first "store manager" begins work.  This will allow me more time to do so many things that will grow my business. My go-to paint is Amy's One-Step paint.  Yesterday, I painted a ceramic lamp. Today, I bought a brass floor lamp, that will be transformed, with One-Step!  I love making something old, new again! The possibilities are endless! I tell people that if everyone in the world, had a paint brush in their hand, there would be world peace.  It's true, ya know?!"

Before and After: Antique Desk

Before and After projects are such a great way to show how simple steps can completely change a project that you are working on.

This antique desk is a great example that was shared to us from one of our retailers in Texas. She shared that , "This is an antique desk that I purchased a LONG time ago.  I was waiting to work on it when I learned more about different techniques. When I came home from Amy's Workshop I couldn't wait to get started!!"
She used two of the One Step paint colors: Bergere Blue and Ballet White.  She shared that the darker version of the Bergere was mixed with some black for contrast. She then gilded using the Amy Howard At Home gilding supplies including the Bole, Gilding Size, and Gold Leaf. She wanted to accent the piece by gilding some ribbon around the top and the small little 'buttons' along the moldings. She then finished the piece with light/dark wax and Dust of the Ages.

Much attention to detail
I love that they added the darker color to the inside of the drawers!

This desk was rescued, restored, and redecorated by Janet Pelc from
Lollie & GiGi in Texas.

All of the Amy Howard At Home products are available on

Flowers

As I have mentioned earlier, I am allergic to plastic flowers!! But in all honesty, I do find flowers to be essential when decorating. I absolutely love fresh flowers!

This simple square vase becomes a base for a flower sculpture!
The cabbage, hydrangeas and calla lilies with the carnation tricks are a visual feast!

Before and After: One Step Transformations

Before and After's are the ultimate example to see a complete transformation. I love to see what an impact the Amy Howard At Home One Step Paint can make on a project.

This illustrates quite the transformation using the One Step Paint in Bauhaus Buff along with both the light and dark waxes.

Before: Brick Fireplace
In Process: Painted
In Process: Waxed with Light and Dark Wax
After: The Final Fireplace
This fireplace project was completed by
Tori Davidson at Courtney Farms LLC in Ocean Springs, MS.

Here is another project where the kitchen was completely renewed after the cabinetry and island were painted in the Bauhaus Buff One Step paint and then waxed with the light and dark waxes.

Before: Kitchen
After: Kitchen
This kitchen was completed by Lori Coyle from Main Decor at Gallery MD located in Louisville, Kentucky.

The Amy Howard At Home One Step Paint may be ordered online or at one of our retailers!

Before and After: One Step Paint Projects

You really can use the One Step Paint on almost everything! I love to see the different ways that our customers have been creative in using the product.

Our retailer, Woodstock Antiques and Consignments, used the Vintage Affliction to paint burlap to be used as curtains for their store.

Another one of our retailers, The Paint Center, used the Dunavant Green to completely redo their kitchen cabinets.

These are great examples of creating a luxury life, the DIY Way!
