Color Mixing to create Coral

Coral as a color is defined with being the various tones of the color coral are representations of the colors of those cnidarians known as corals.
It is a color that I created for this Color Mixing project with three One Step Paint® colors: Palmer Pink, Shaw Red, and Massey Hill.
The Formula: 1/4 Palmer Pink + 1/4 Shaw Red + 1/2 Massey Hill = Coral

Inspiration:
I love this vintage coral dresser with the gilded details in this nursery.
Fabulous front door color
Even used as an accent wall in this bathroom
I like the subtle use of coral in this family room.
The color combination with the blue works very well.
Flowers!
This vanity is so simplistic but pops with the color.

Beginning to decorate for Fall...

Fall is such a beautiful time of transition. With October coming next week, I wanted to share a few ideas for setting your table and decorating your front door for fall entertaining. These are two of the first things I do as the weather gets colder!

I love to have my front porch and front door show the change of the season.

Then I like to see how I will decorate my table for guests.

Featured Retailer: Very Violet

Today, I am thrilled to share with you one of new retailers, Very Violet located in Missouri. Melissa Wuennenberg just opened up the store September 13th but has already planned her first One Step Paint® Workshop in two weeks! She said "It's been a crazy but amazing journey so far." Very Violet is open Tuesday- Saturday, 10am-6pm! Lots of handmade items, jewelry, fall decor, candles, amazing furniture, t-shirts, hats, home decor, Amy Howard one step paint, etc.

Amy: What made you decide to start your own business?
Melissa: Very Violet Boutique is located in a commercially zoned house, in the center of Downtown Lee's Summit, Mo. I started out renting a space at an amazing Vintage store, Restoration Emporium, in the Historic downtown Kansas City area. I have enjoyed my time there and really had no intention of opening up my own store. I was approached by a friend with the idea about opening up a store and 8 weeks later here I am. I'm glad I took the leap of faith. Everyone has been so supportive of this little shop that appeared out of no where.

Amy: What is your company motto?
Melissa: My motto is, We must let go of the life we have planned, so as to have the life that is waiting for us. I just took one look at this sweet happy house and now it is the home of Very Violet. It just feels right but definitely was not in my plan.

Amy: What do you love about having a store and what sets you apart from others in your area?
Melissa: My favorite thing about owning my own store is that I get to work side by side with my daughter. Whether it be a painting or a decorating question, we love being able to take the time to visit with our customers, to find out their needs. That makes our store stand out among some of the larger chain stores. Also the fact that most of our goods are handmade, vintage and repurposed. In this crazy busy world handmade is getting harder to find.

Amy: What is your aesthetic in 3 words?
Melissa: If I were to describe my style in 3 words, it would be eclectic, French, farmhouse.

Amy: What is your favorite season?
Melissa: My favorite season is fall. I love living in the Midwest during the fall. Crisp air, the smell of the first wood burning in the fireplace, beautiful changing colors of the trees, the anticipation of the gathering of family members for a feast, baked pumpkin spiced muffins. What's not to love about Autumn?

Amy: I can't live without my...
Melissa: I guess what I can't live without would have to be my paintbrush. It's like therapy for me. There is something so gratifying in taking an old piece of furniture that no one else wanted and renew it to something everyone wants.

I love the simplicity of adding a golden wreath to the kitchen window.
Place your pumpkins in Zinc containers!
Decorate for Fall by adding seasonal touches to every room
Colorful antique glass jars are great for holding dried berries and other Fall foliage
Candlesticks topped with mini pumpkins creates a great Fall centerpiece
You can add Fall color with placing pumpkins or gourds as your centerpiece
Love the White Lacquered chairs!
Even a gift may be embellished for the season!

Color Mixing: American Dream + Get In Gear

The One Step Paint® is a great product to mix! Although there are many color options, I love to make my own versions though color mixing. For this mix, I used equal parts American Dream and Get In Gear. I was looking for a shade of midnight blue and successfully accomplished my goal!

Color Mix:

Inspiration:
Yummy glossy lacquered kitchen cabinets
Blue and white china is one of my favorites
Gorgeous colors in nature
The various blue shades here are beautiful together
A touch of blue here adds a great element to this kitchen
This book is such a great place for inspiration!
