Before and After: Urn

I found this urn in a Consignment store here in Memphis and felt that it needed a new life! I decided to use the One Step Paint, Antique Glaze, Light Wax, Dark Wax, and Dust of Ages to give it a completely new look.

Materials Needed:
-Iron Urn
-Amy Howard At Home One Step Paint
-Sponge Brush
-Amy Howard At Home Light Wax
-Amy Howard At Home Dark Wax
-2-3 China Bristle Brushes
-Amy Howard At Home Dust of Ages
-T-shirt rag

It was just the piece I needed yet not the right color
Gorgeous Details that are lost

First, I lightly brushed the piece clean of any dirt
I did not want to loose the rust and wear that will show up after I distress the piece
I completely covered the piece with One Step Paint using a Sponge Brush
Once the paint had dried, I went back with my Light Wax and
lightly brushed it on using one of my China Bristle Brushes
*Once the Light Wax had dried (about 20-30 minutes),
I came back with my Dark Wax to emphasize some of the details on the Urn
*After the Dark Wax dried, I polished the piece using a t-shirt rag
The final Urn has such a beautiful finish and
you can really see the detail of the original piece

All finishing products are available on at your local
